Dye, Resist and Print - an introduction to colouring and marking fabric! Would you like to know how to dye and print your own fabric and threads? Then come and join me on this "taster" workshop for two days of fun and experimentation with fabric dyes. We will be using Procion MX dyes, which give the most stunning and vibrant colours, and are such good fun to play with. Learn step by step, how to mordant your fabric, mix dyes and make a colour wheel of different shades, to make a whole range of small sample pieces. Practice mixing dye solutions to create your own unique colour combinations and experiment with folding, clamping and scrunching fabric to create some stunning effects. On Day 2, we will be using thickened dyes for printing and painting directly onto fabric, to create your own beautiful patterns. I will be covering a range of techniques including mark making and using flour paste resist to create some really interesting surface decoration. Learn how to use different types of tools to produce some stunning effects, or paint your own patterns and designs. Create a range of samples and make your own beautiful and unique fabric for use in future projects. The workshop will be held in the peaceful venue of Sandham Memorial Hall, near Pulborough, with access to a kitchen and plenty of space for parking outside. A small equipment list will be send to you beforehand, but all dyes and some fabric samples are provided, although you will need to bring some additional fabric with you to dye.
