Three Dimensional Hand Stitch

Join me for an experimental day of hand stitching in 3D! Creating texture and dimension with fabrics, is one of my favourite things to do and there is so much potential in padding, scrunching and manipulating textiles to create all sorts of wonderful effects. We will experiment with a variety of techniques, such as different types of Trapunto (also known as the "stuffed technique"), making bobbles, and using unusual fabrics such as stretchy elastane or upcycled tights. We will look at how to scrunch, fold and manipulate fabric to create interesting textures that can be further embellished with beads or hand made sequins. In addition, we'll practice some different types of hand stitching and you will have the opportunity to learn new stitches, such as button hole, french knots or needle weaving. You will make a small sample, which we'll add to throughout the day to create a beautiful and interesting 3D piece, with some lovely organic shapes and surfaces. Suitable for all levels of experience, from complete beginners, to those wishing to experiment and extend their hand stitching repertoire. All materials provided on this fun, friendly and relaxing day.
